Girls in STEM Leadership Fellows
Overview
Girls in STEM Leadership Fellows is a comprehensive program designed to empower young women to pursue careers in STEM fields. Through a combination of academic rigor, leadership development, hands-on learning, and mentorship, participants will gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed in STEM.
Who is Eligible?
Girls in Grades 8-11 from public, private, and homeschool schools in Onslow County. Maximum 20 students
Program Components:
- Core STEM Activities:
- Explore fundamental STEM concepts through interactive activities.
- Develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and guest speaker events focused on leadership in STEM.
- Leadership Development:
- Learn leadership concepts such as communication, teamwork, and self-awareness.
- Lead group projects, presentations, and community service initiatives.
- Gain opportunities to apply for the NC Flight Crew.
- Mentorship Opportunities:
- Connect with mentors from STEM professions for guidance, support, and real-world insights.

- Face-to-Face Meetings:
- Location: Sturgeon City Environmental Education Center
- December 3 from 5:30-7:00 PM
- February 4 from 5:30-7:00 PM
- March 11 from 5:30-7:00 PM
- April 26 (Earth Day Celebration 8:30am-3:30pm)
- May 6 from 5:30-7:00 PM
