What You’ll Do (The Fun & Fulfilling Stuff):

  • Lead Engaging Programs: Deliver captivating, inquiry-based learning experiences to groups of 10-30 students. Think field trips, summer camps, birthday parties, outreach events – a diverse range of educational adventures! Some programs offer established curriculum, while others empower you to develop your own innovative lessons.
  • Become a STEAM Ambassador: Confidently present pre-designed lesson plans and seize opportunities to create your own enriching educational experiences.
  • Embrace Diverse Learning Environments: Be comfortable teaching both indoors and outdoors, adapting to various weather conditions.
  • Cultivate a Positive Learning Environment: Maintain an organized and welcoming learning space by setting up and cleaning your station and classroom area.
  • Champion Sturgeon City’s Mission: Share your enthusiasm for Sturgeon City by providing information about our programs, events, and activities to the community.
  • Collaborate with Volunteers: Work alongside and guide volunteers during select programs, fostering a collaborative team dynamic.

What You’ll Need (Your Expertise & Enthusiasm):

  • Degree in a natural science, science, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Experience in environmental and STEAM education and/or working with children in an educational setting is highly valued.
  • A genuine appreciation for the outdoors, regardless of weather.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • A self-directed, energetic, and collaborative work style, coupled with strategic thinking capabilities.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for working with children and families.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified is preferred

Part-time Event Staff

Sturgeon City Environmental Education Center is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Part-Time Event Staff to assist with the set-up, execution, and breakdown of a variety of events, including weddings, receptions, corporate events, birthday parties, and more. The majority of hours for this position will be evenings and Saturdays. Responsibilities:

  • Set up event venues according to event layouts and client specifications. This may include arranging tables, chairs, decorations, and other event equipment.
  • Execute event operations, ensuring smooth transitions and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to event attendees, answering questions and addressing their needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of event spaces, including restrooms, and promptly clean up spills or messes.
  • Ensure the safety of guests and staff by following established safety procedures.
  • Assist with event breakdown, including cleaning up, removing decorations, and resetting the venue.
  • Routinely check in with clients during events to address needs and ensure satisfaction.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with Sturgeon City’s event rules and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Manager or Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Customer service experience required; experience providing event support preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Positive attitude and a team player mentality.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. This is a part-time position with a schedule based on venue rentals and event support needs.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; extended periods of walking and physical activity are required. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
