November 14 - Karen K. Esala, LCSW Owner/Clinician at Open Water Wellness, PLLC & Ryan Jackson, MSW Intern at Open Water Wellness, PLLC

Karen K. Esala, LCSW, founder of Open Water Wellness, PLLC, is a former school counselor (VA Public Schools & Camp Lejeune). She helps teens, families, and military community members embrace their potential. Karen will discuss how Clinical Social Work and STEM combine—using science, technology, and math—to power evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Learn how CBT leverages neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to rewire) alongside tools like mood-tracking apps to create life-changing transformations. Ryan is an active-duty U.S. Marine Raider, dedicated foster parent, and Master's in Social Work candidate (Penn State). With over 13 years of service and multiple combat deployments, he is an expert in leadership, resilience, and high-pressure support.
